What's that I see, over the horizon? Could it be...
That's RIGHT! The infamous Wheel is back for another year of Short and Spuffy - the real March Madness around here!
What is Short and Spuffy, you ask? (And why is there a spinning wheel involved?)
This event, which kicks off March 1 is a drabble writing event. Authors who choose to participate will write stories made up of 100 word drabbles, each based on a prompt. These chapters should be 100 words exactly, based on Sunnydale After Dark's official word counter. (Our word counter is designed to match that of Google Docs. If you are using another word processing tool, be sure to use the preview tool to check for that perfect 100-word count.)
For those of you unfamiliar with wheel lore, each night one of the SADmin's takes to Discord to spin a wheel and randomly choose the prompt for the next day. The prompt will first be announced on Discord in a dedicated event channel; the prompts will also be listed here on the homepage and announced in the Scooby Chat box. You do NOT have to post every day, and you do not have to post in the order of the prompts, but each chapter you write should be tied to one of the 30 prompts posted through out the month of March. (March 31 is a bonus, promptless day that you may use to tie up your fic if necessary.)
This drabble fic should be a newly published fic, but it could be a standalone fic, a sequel or tie-in to an existing fic, or a collection of unrelated drabbles. You'll receive awards for the drabbles you have completed by midnight (site time) on March 31. You're welcome to complete your stories after the close of the event, but please do not extend beyond the 30 drabbles or outside of the listed prompts. If you'd like to add more, consider a sequel!
This event is one of our most popular and chaotic, as the site gets flooded with creative drabble stories! There are several SAD members who got their start writing drabble fics. The Discord channel becomes very active as people discuss the day's prompt, and commenters go wild trying to keep up with all of them. Sometimes there's even spreadsheets involved... ![]()
If you're thinking about writing but still unsure about the structure of the fics, check out previous events by clicking Browse -- Events above. This is the fourth year of Short and Spuffy, so lots of previous event fics there for inspiration!
And of course, we will gladly reward your enthusiasm with awards!
For authors:
1-15 Drabbles = Drabble Champion
16-29 Drabbles = Drabble Slayer
30 Drabbles = the coveted Naked Spike Award
For commenters, the bar is high!
15-49 Comments = Comment Champion
50 - 99 Comments = Comment Slayer
100+ Comments - the Naked Buffy Award
Don't forget to credit your banner artists - we'll give them awards too!
Let us know if you have any questions. Otherwise, we'll see you at the wheel March 1st!

I'll be cheering you all on from the sidelines!!
I'm a little drabbled out after taking too long to finish last year's Short & Spuffy! XD Have fun and good luck all you drabble Extraordinaires!! ![]()
For the commenters, is that comments on any SAD fics during the month or do only comments on ones for the drabble challenge count?
Am I correct, that one can participate at any time during the month, using one (or more) of the drabble prompts? Or was there a sign-up involved that I ignored because I wasn't planning to participate and didn't want to back out of a promise?
ChronixCreature: All comments left in March count, if I'm not mistaken!
Slaymesoftly: there is no sign-up! No definite start date! You have until the last day of March to submit for the event.

LET’S GO!!!!!!!!!
