You've done no such thing, @slayme!! We're just thrilled you're here and gracing this new archive with all your lovely words! Okay, maybe not all of them, but a lot anyway wink

As if I didn't know I shouldn't get too cocky about how efficient I've become at posting here, I've made more work for the mods by not double checking entries before I hit "submit". My apologies to everyone, including confused readers. I am a dolt.

I didn't mean for it to become that long.

Working on my Giles meta for the Facebook group. It's getting out of control... 😱

I can't wait to go back. Trying to get myself back to the point I can sit up for longer periods, without being completely knackered by the next morning

@Gillo -- my first time in Wales, I saw some guy working on a road project and I swear he was the spitting image of my grandfather down to his weird mustache.

which none of the pagans thought it a good idea. It's also claimed that he is the founding pater of the O'Neill (which, I guess makes huge sense)

Supposedly, Niall of the nine hostages was influential in the Dal Raida kingdom (mainly that he raided the hell out of them) And the Dal Raida were located, north Wales up the western coast up until parts of western Scotland. Niall is also credited with the capture of the future st. Patrick,

@Niamh - they do say the Irish are just Welshmen who can swim! haha But in fact for centuries the Irish Sea was a link not a separator; there was huge interaction and frequent intermarriage.

I think I'm nearing the end of my Spuffy stories that I'm willing to put into this archive. In case anyone was wondering if it was ever going to stop. Ha ha. It is a finite number, I promise.

@Niamh - Scotland spoke to my soul almost immediately, and still does. My DNA results currently indicate a highter % of Scottish blood than either Irish or English. I'm comfortable that by body knew it was home there.

Pretty much my idea of heaven is a cross between Wales and Scotland, laced with the smell of peat in the air, and a good strong dram. And scones.

despite what the results say.

@Gillo, I haven't explored it as much as I would like, but the place speaks to my soul. (Scotland too). As far as I know (and DNA results) my father is 98% Irish, but he could've been Anthony Hopkin's stunt double in the Marvel universe. I think we have some Cymru in us,

@flow, I hope this time works out! He's so fun to meet! Meeting other fans is the best, too.

@Ginger - I'm lucky that visiting relatives in Glamorgan as a child meant I learnt how to pronounce the language well before I could understand it! I once drove to visit my mother with the GPS voice on. ::shudder:: Never again.

My mother's family were all South Wales people. My father's were originally from about 40 miles west of here - his father went to a school in central Birmingham, but they were West Bromwich people originally. My parents ended up in Llandudno because of Dad's job.

I love that you are studying Welsh @GillO. My family trying (and failing hurt-your-ears appallingly) to pronounce Welsh on a road trip remains a running joke years later.

I wouldn’t exactly call that settling, lol! I think I read some crossover fic early on when I came back to the fandom.

@Ginger, would you settle for Jack and Spike? @Gillo, I didn't know that about your parents - so, you didn't grow up there, but they did? Now I understand why you're studying Welsh.

@Naimh, my mother was Welsh, from Glamorgan, though she and my father spent their last years near Llandudno in the north. That's why I'm learning Welsh. It's a beautiful tiny country.

I love Wales.

It's all about where they can get a venue in their price range. And mid-Wales is actually easier than extreme North or South of the country for actual Welsh people. It was in Telford for several years, and that just ain't Cymru!

Why not Cardiff, home of the Torchwood Institute? And now Ginger is picturing Captains Jack and John having a snog and she’s gone all stupid… 😋

Wales Comic-Con in… Telford? 🤔
August 08, 2022 12:11pm

Wales Comic-con was in Newport this time - which is genuinely in Wales, so that's an advance on Telford!

Ooh, where in Wales? Was nowhere near but it’s one of my favorite places in the world and it’s fun to picture him there. ;-)
