I'm already retired, so theoretically I can write when I want, but the muse just isn't cooperating. I'm hoping that editing my stories will help spark the flame and I'll be writing soon. I hope. God, I really really hope so.

It's sound advice @Gillo. Make sure the essentials -sleep and food - are covered while you take care of the rest after.

@Niamh, we moved a *lot* when I was a kid. My parents' rule was as you say, but get the beds set up first, then the kitchen. If you or your kids are too tired to eat or cook, at least beds are ready. (And takeout always an option.)

@sandy_s I was young. And apparently full of piss and vinegar. Yeah, I have some pretty cool hacks, and the major advice. Breakdown the bedroom then the kitchen last -- and do the opposite in the new place. Bedroom and Kitchen set up first. This way, you have the means to reheat dinner
