Late. But you can just tell SMG and JM have such good acting chemistry together. From outtakes and dailies you can just tell how much they get to play with each other. I love watching actors act. Haha.

Even their outtakes are🔥. Ever see the one when she scolds him for saying ‘f**k’? And he says it again. And she says it. It’s like they haven’t broken character. And then there’s one from *that scene in DMP where they both just start giggling at the absurdity of it that’s so squee.

@Ginger - eek. That SMG thing is horrible. But I fully agree - JM and SMG just managed to knock the ball out of the park every time. Hell, they even made door sex tantalising!

End of the day, their combined professionalism & talent elevated what could have been a hot mess (thanks to the writers & showrunners) into something finer and IMO compelling & beautiful.

Re nude scenes, didn’t know he’d added that but I know SR sent him to therapy & resulted in a ‘no rape scenes’ clause in future contracts. I read an old (while BtVS was in production) interview with SMG where she referenced having to make out with a 50-something dude as a teen in her soap

Whew! Just finished posting one of my oldest stories. It took a long time due to the apparent complete lack of a beta and/or any proofreading on my part. OMG, the typos! (and, TBH, more than one misspelled word). Feeling totally humbled and stupid....

@GillO Yeah that makes sense. I don't think anyone could've predicted Spike being naked so much on the show when he signed on as a full time cast member.

I believe JM had one in every show thereafter. But when he was hired as a permanent cast member there was no thought that might ever be relevant.

NGL, I would absolutely have a similar clause in a contract. I can't really fault SMG for that. Sucks that meant another actor had to be virtually nude instead. They probably didn't need that much nudity/sex scenes in the show anyway. Reminds me of Jennifer Beals, she has a no nudity clause too.

@flow I've heard JM say more than once that he had to do virtually nude scenes with SMG off-camera but wrapped up in coat and gloves. That sort of thing can piss anyone off.

Thank you so much for sharing the link to the cameo with JM. I love hearing him talk about the show. I only now remembered that SMG had a special clause in her contract that would protect her from having to do nude scenes. That was why we often saw Spike naked in season 6 whereas Buffy wore clothes.
